PRIVACY POLICY

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you interact with GateMate:

• Email address — when you join the beta waitlist via our website or create an account in the app
• Profile information — display name, optional photo, and optional bio when you create an account
• User-generated content — short messages you send to other attendees through GateMate's intro request feature
• User identifiers — internal user ID and session tokens used for authentication
• Usage data — events you join (GateLinks), interactions within those spaces, and app activity for analytics purposes
• Diagnostic data — crash logs and performance data used to identify and fix bugs
• Device information — device type, operating system, and app version for debugging and performance

We do not collect GPS location data. You join a GateLink by entering a code — not by sharing your physical location.

If you sign in using Sign in with Apple and choose Apple's "Hide My Email" option, we receive only Apple's anonymous relay address. We never receive your real email address in that case.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Send you beta access invites and product updates via email
• Enable your presence and identity within GateLinks you join
• Improve app performance and fix bugs
• Measure engagement and validate product features
• Respond to support requests or reports
• Enforce our Terms of Service and protect users from abuse

We will never sell your personal information to third parties. We do not run ads in GateMate products.

3. Visibility & Privacy Controls

GateMate is built with a privacy-first approach:

• Your visibility inside a GateLink is opt-in. You choose whether others can see you
• GateLinks are not publicly indexed or searchable. You must have a code to join
• You can block other users at any time. Blocked users cannot see or interact with you
• You can report any user or content that violates our Terms of Service
• You can leave a GateLink at any time and your presence is immediately removed

4. Data Sharing

We share data only with the following trusted services required to operate GateMate:

• Supabase — our backend database and authentication provider
• Apple App Store Connect & TestFlight — for app distribution and crash reporting
• Google Play Console — for Android app distribution and crash reporting (when applicable)
• Formspree — processes beta waitlist email submissions
• Google Fonts — serves fonts for our website

All third-party services are required to maintain the confidentiality and security of your data.

5. Data Retention & Account Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated personal data at any time using any of these methods:

1. In-App: Open the app → Settings → Delete Account → confirm
2. Web: Visit gatemate.net/delete-account and submit a request
3. Email: Contact info@gatemate.net

Deletion requests are processed within 30 days. Upon deletion, we permanently remove your profile, GateLink memberships, intro requests, blocks, reports, and all associated personal data from our systems. Anonymous analytics records may be retained but cannot be linked back to you.

Waitlist email addresses submitted via gatemate.net are retained until the beta program concludes or you unsubscribe, whichever comes first.

6. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

• All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS
• Row Level Security (RLS) is enforced on all database tables — users can only access data they are permitted to see
• Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth with secure session management
• Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text

No system is 100% secure. If you believe your data has been compromised, please contact us immediately at info@gatemate.net.

7. Children's Privacy

GateMate is intended for users 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted information to us, please contact us at info@gatemate.net and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Correction — request correction of inaccurate data
• Deletion — request deletion of your data via the methods in Section 5
• Opt-out — unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time
• Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights. We do not sell personal information.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as GateMate grows and evolves. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of GateMate after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
